What is Postpartum Depression?

Postpartum Depression is a type of depression that arises after childbirth typically from hormonal changes, psychological adjustment to motherhood, and fatigue.

About Me,

Bringing a beautiful baby into the world is no small act. It’s not just physically exhausting, it also takes a serious toll on your mental health. Unfortunately, many women don’t feel comfortable talking about the struggles they face postpartum. That’s why I’m here to help.

My name is Taylor Alexander, and I am a certified postpartum doula, trained in perinatal mood disorders, an NLP practitioner, and a certified life coach. When I got pregnant with my first child, I was completely stunned. My husband and I had just moved in together, and he had just been scheduled to be deployed for when I was due. That meant I had to give birth to our son without my husband. After my baby boy’s birth, my world was shaken. I developed postpartum depression that was so severe, I nearly took my own life as a result.

I realized I needed to use my pain for a greater purpose. It is my life’s passion to show moms that what they are dealing with is not unusual and that there is hope! Through my course “Understanding Postpartum Depression” I love to be able to educate and empower women through their journey and see them come out the other side stronger than ever. If you’re in need of professional guidance from someone who knows first-hand how you feel, I would be honored to be that support on your postpartum path.

I'm a first-time mom who is alone in the United States with my husband. I have no family here. I am 5 months postpartum and saw Taylor comment in a mom group we are both in on Facebook so I reached out to her. She provided virtual support for me in a time of need. She is knowledgeable and very caring. Highly recommend.

Taylor is a wonderful addition to any postpartum care plan. As a fellow postpartum doula I can honestly say that no matter who you are or how many kids you have it's always a good idea to have postpartum care. She really helped me through some of my hardest moments as a new mother. She offered me virtual support and completely understood my issues and was so relatable. Taylor was very thoughtful to check back in with me and give me the tools I needed at the time. Can't recommend her enough.

I just recently had my second child and never had postpartum depression with my first. I didn't know anything about it but knew something was wrong after my second child. Taylor provided me with the education and tools I needed to take control of my postpartum depression and get the help I needed.
